Navi Mumbai: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Shiv Sena Panvel unit launched a proactive initiative to curb plastic pollution by distributing 5,000 cloth bags to shopkeepers in Kharghar’s Sector 34 and 35.
Led by Shiv Sena's city organizer Mangesh Ranawade, the distribution drive aimed to support the ongoing plastic ban enforced by the Panvel Municipal Corporation and the Maharashtra State Government. As per the ban, strict penalties can be imposed on shopkeepers found using plastic bags for packaging goods.
Recognizing the environmental hazards caused by plastic, the Shiv Sena team stepped in to provide eco-friendly alternatives to local vendors. The campaign was carried out in the presence of party office-bearers Imtiaz Shaikh, Munaf Amirali, Nivrutti Sakpal, Jyoti Nadkarni, and Nandita Roy.

Speaking on the occasion, party representatives emphasized the importance of shifting to sustainable practices to prevent ecological imbalance. The cloth bag distribution was well received by the local business community and marked a significant step toward building a cleaner, greener Panvel.
