A step towards sustainability and educational support, the Alumni of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha will inaugurate a new initiative titled ‘Books and the 3Rs (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse)’ on the occasion of World Environment Day, observed on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
The event will begin at 10:30 AM and will be held at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Headquarters in Belapur.
As part of this eco-conscious initiative, old textbooks from Std. 9th and 10th, collected from municipal schools, will be donated to tribal Ashram schools run by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha. The effort not only promotes reuse and recycling but also extends much-needed academic resources to underprivileged students.

Organisers have extended an open invitation to community members and media representatives to attend and cover the event, emphasizing the dual message of environmental responsibility and educational empowerment.
"This initiative echoes the spirit of Environment Day by encouraging resource conservation through community action, while simultaneously fostering a culture of sharing and inclusivity in education," said an organiser.
