Thane: A 55-year-old woman riding pillion died, and four others were injured after a speeding truck lost control and rammed into multiple vehicles in Badlapur on Saturday morning. Following the collision, the truck veered off the road into nearby bushes, and the driver fled the scene after jumping out.
Husband Among 4 Injured, Identities of 3 Others Pending
The deceased has been identified as Laltidevi Ramsagar Prajapati (55), a resident of Ambernath. One of the injured is her husband, Ramsagar Prajapati (57). The identities of the other three injured individuals have not yet been confirmed.
Truck Loses Control at Walavli Naka, Hits 5 Vehicles
The accident occurred at Walavli Naka on the Badlapur-Ambernath Road. According to police, the truck was heading towards Badlapur from Ambernath when the driver reportedly lost control, crashing into around five vehicles — including a car, several motorcycles, and an auto-rickshaw.
Locals and bystanders rushed to assist and alerted the police. All the victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where Laltidevi was declared dead on arrival. The three other injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment.
FIR Registered, Driver Fled After Jumping Out
An FIR has been registered against the unidentified driver under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act at the Badlapur West Police Station.

Kishor Shinde, Senior Police Inspector at Badlapur West Police Station, said, “The truck veered off the main road and landed in nearby bushes. The driver appears to have jumped off the vehicle and fled the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest a possible brake failure. A manhunt has been launched to trace the driver.”
