Thane: The 31st edition of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Annual Marathon will be held on August 10, 2025, officials announced at a press conference on Wednesday. This year’s theme is “Marathon of Thane… Power of Youth”, aiming to energise citizens across age groups.
Time-Tech Enabled Races for 10 km & 21 km Categories
The marathon will feature time-technology tracking for competitive 21 km races (men and women) and 10 km races for participants aged 18 and above. The flagship event is expected to draw over 25,000 runners, including professional, national, and international athletes.
Registration Figures and Race Categories
According to civic officials, the marathon has attracted strong offline and online registrations:
Offline Total: 13,860 participants
Under 12 (3 km): Boys – 2,378 | Girls – 2,051
Under 15 (5 km): Boys – 4,641 | Girls – 4,018
Under 18 (10 km): Boys – 965
Over 60 (1 km): Men – 11 | Women – 22
Corporate Run (1 km): 14 participants
Online Total: 1,850 participants
Men (21 km): 610 | Women (21 km): 190
Men (10 km, 18+): 730 | Women (10 km, 16+): 320
Route, Start Time & Warm-Up Plans
The marathon will begin at 6:30 AM from the TMC headquarters square, covering 12 race categories in total. To ensure participants are prepped, Zumba warm-up sessions will be held before the races.
Additional Commissioner Sandeep Malvi urged TMC staff, journalists, and citizens to participate actively in the event.
Transport Arrangements for Runners
Special buses will be provided for school students participating in the marathon.
A special local train will run from Badlapur to Thane at 5:00 AM and return at 1:00 PM, ensuring smooth transit for participants.
Cash Prizes Worth Over ₹10 Lakh
This year’s total prize money stands at ₹10,38,900, with significant cash rewards across multiple categories:
21 km Race Winners:
1st: ₹1,00,000 | 2nd: ₹75,000 | 3rd: ₹50,000 | 4th: ₹30,000
Positions 5 to 10 will also receive prizes
10 km Race (18+):
1st: ₹25,000 | 2nd: ₹20,000 | 3rd: ₹15,000 | 4th: ₹10,000
