A 21-year-old man and his pet dog were rescued after a fire broke out in a tenth-floor flat in Thane on Sunday evening.
According to the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation, they received an alert about the fire at around 9:20 PM. A fire engine, one rescue vehicle, and a pickup vehicle were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The incident occurred at Mittal Park, located in Wagale Estate, Thane (West). The fire originated in Flat Number 2 on the tenth floor, owned by Ramesh Mohiledeva and occupied by his son, Ojhas Ramesh Mohiledeva.
Fire officials stated that Ojhas sustained minor injuries, while his dog was safely rescued by the response team. The fire damaged furniture, electrical appliances, and internal wiring in the apartment.
Minal Sankhe, a former corporator, alerted the fire brigade after being informed of the blaze by a resident. "I rushed to the scene and saw that a man, identified as Ojhas Mohiledeva, and his pet dog were trapped inside the bedroom. The fire had engulfed the hall, and he was shouting for help," she said.
Firefighters arrived promptly, broke open the main door, extinguished the blaze, and safely rescued both the man and his pet from the bedroom.

Yasin Tadvi, Chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell, confirmed: “Our firefighters reached the spot quickly, brought the fire under control within an hour, and safely rescued the trapped individual and his dog. The man sustained minor injuries and was taken to Jupiter Hospital for treatment.”
The fire reportedly started around 9:10 PM and was brought under control by 10:40 PM. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
