Thane: The Thane city is likely to witness a major traffic disruption on Monday, after a container caught fire on the Patlipada Flyover, heading towards Fountain Road. The incident, which occurred during a busy traffic window, has led to severe congestion in and around the affected area.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing thick plumes of smoke rising from the flyover, with flames engulfing the container. Emergency services have been alerted, and the police have been informed and are responding to the scene.

The fire has brought traffic to a near standstill on the flyover and surrounding roads. Authorities are urging motorists to avoid the route entirely and instead opt for alternative roads until the situation is brought under control. Commuters stuck in traffic are advised to remain patient and follow instructions from traffic personnel managing the scene. As of now, there are no confirmed reports of casualties or injuries.
Major Fire at Textile Unit in MIDC at Dombivli; Goods Worth Lakhs Destroyed
In a separate news story, a major fire broke out at a textile processing unit in Dombivli's MIDC area on Wednesday afternoon. While no casualties were reported, cloth materials worth several lakhs of rupees were gutted in the blaze.
The incident took place at Aerosol Services India Private Limited, located in MIDC Phase 1, Dombivli. Fortunately, all employees present at the time managed to evacuate safely.
Namdev Chaudhary, Chief of the Kalyan Fire Station, said, “We received the alert around 1 PM and immediately dispatched eight fire engines to the site. The fire was brought under control by 3:30 PM, following which cooling operations were carried out.”
While the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, initial discussions with workers suggest it may have been triggered by a short circuit. The fire department has launched a detailed investigation to establish the exact cause.
