Ulhasnagar: The Vithalwadi police have arrested a bogus doctor from Ulhasnagar for allegedly practicing medicine without the necessary qualifications, following a court order to register an FIR against him.
Accused Ran Clinic Near SST College Since 2018
The accused, identified as Shri Krishna Tukaram Kumawat, had been operating a clinic in Ulhasnagar Camp No. 5 near SST College since 2018.
No Valid Medical Degree or Licence, Say Police
According to police officials, Kumawat did not possess any valid medical degree or a license from the medical council, yet was allegedly treating patients for several years.
Earlier FIR Registered by KDMC in February 2025
A police source said that the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation’s health department had previously registered an FIR against Kumawat in February 2025. However, a local doctor earlier approached the Ulhasnagar court and filed a private complaint. Based on the complaint, the court directed the police to register a fresh FIR and take action.
New FIR Filed Based on Doctor’s Private Complaint
In the complaint, the doctor alleged that Kumawat had fraudulently misled the public and government authorities by posing as a qualified practitioner without any valid credentials.
An FIR has been registered against him under Section 33 of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act and Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
