Three college students were booked by Sanpada Police for performing dangerous stunts from a speeding car on Palm Beach Road late Monday night. A video of the incident, which went viral on WhatsApp, led to swift identification and action against the youths.

The accused have been identified as Hari Subhash Gholpe (19) of Belapur, Kavya Kashinath Joshi (20) of Nerul, and Vinay Dinesh Rawal (19) of Sanpada. All three are pursuing college education and were seen dangerously leaning out of a moving car during the stunt.

"The stunt took place around 11.30 pm on Monday. Gholpe had taken his father’s car for a drive with his friends. Joshi was driving the vehicle, while Rawal stood up through the sunroof and Gholpe hung out of the side window. The trio was traveling from Sarsole towards Vashi when the video was captured," a police officer from Sanpada police station said.

Vehicle Traced Through Registration Number

After the video surfaced, traffic police officer Kamalakar Bhusare from the Seawoods Traffic Division traced the vehicle based on its registration number, which was found to be registered in the name of Subhash Shripad Gholpe, Hari’s father. He was summoned to the traffic office, where he confirmed that the youths in the video were his son and friends, the police said.

Police Confirm Legal Action Taken

Sanpada Police subsequently registered a case against the trio under charges of negligent and dangerous driving, and for endangering public safety. The information was confirmed by Senior Police Inspector Mohini Lokhande.
