Thane: Ulhasnagar Police have arrested two men for allegedly murdering a man during a dispute in the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred around 2:30 AM near Sai Baba Temple in Camp No. 1, Ulhasnagar. The deceased has been identified as Sajid Sheikh, a rickshaw driver. The arrested accused are Rohit Rampal Pasi and Pravin Ujjainwar.
Dispute Turns Fatal at 2:30 AM in Camp No. 1
According to police, on the evening of August 1, Sajid and Pasi had a heated argument while under the influence of alcohol in Bhim Nagar, Ulhasnagar. In an attempt to resolve the dispute, the two agreed to meet again later that night.
Provocative Call Escalated Earlier Argument Over Drinks
At around 2:30 AM on August 2, Sajid arrived at the Sai Baba Temple along with his friends after receiving a provocative phone call from Sajid’s friend, Sunny, who had been stopped earlier by the accused Ujjainwar and asked him do you have courage to come here.
Accused Identified as Rohit Pasi and Pravin Ujjainwar
The police said that the confrontation quickly turned violent. The accused, Ujjainwar, allegedly attacked Sajid with sharp weapons, and Pasi attacked him with wooden sticks and sharp weapons. He collapsed at the scene and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
CCTV Footage, Technical Surveillance Led to Arrests
Ulhasnagar Police, upon receiving the alert, rushed to the spot and initiated a panchnama. They gathered CCTV footage and used technical surveillance to track down and arrest the accused.
An FIR has been registered against Pasi and Ujjainwar under relevant sections of IPC for murder. "We have arrested two accused so far, and further investigation is underway," said Vishnu Tamhane, Senior Police Inspector, Ulhasnagar Police Station.
