Thane: The Kalyan Khadakpada police filed chargesheets in a molestation case within seven hours after the filing of the FIR in Kalyan Court. An First Information Report was filed against the accused under sections 74 (Assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and 329(3) (punishment for criminal trespass) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on May 3.
The police said that a total of 29 pages of chargesheets, along with three witnesse's statements have recorded, including an eyewitness, were submitted as quickly as possible at the same time.
The police stated that the incident involving the accused took place on June 3 at 7:40 AM, when the accused, identified as Omkar Nikalje (29), a resident of Wadala in Mumbai, allegedly entered the home of a 34-year-old woman.
The police said that the victim's brother-in-law left for work in the early morning and mistakenly slightly opened the door. Meanwhile, the accused allegedly entered the home when the victim, her husband, and children were sleeping in the room. The accused was roaming in the room and later allegedly touched her inappropriately.
Following this act, the victim shouted and woke up her husband. The accused fled the scene, but later locals managed to nab him. The victim, along with her husband, approached the police station at 10 AM, and the police swung into action by registering the FIR and later went to the spot, conducted a spot panchnama, collected CCTV footage, and recorded three witnesses in the matter.
Investigating Officer Amit Pawar from Khadakpada police station told FPJ that the chargesheets were prepared by 4 PM, and he took the signature from a senior cop and filed them before the court by 5:05 PM at Kalyan Court. We summoned the accused to appear in court while filing the chargesheets. The accused was released on bail later.

Last week, The Kalyan police, in three separate cases of POCSO and sexual harassment, have filed chargesheets within 48 hours after the filing of the FIR. The three police stations, Manpada, Bazarpeth, and Kolsewadi, filed chargesheets before the court after collecting the evidence.
