Thane: The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell of Thane Police has launched a crackdown on human trafficking activities, resulting in the arrest of a woman agent and the rescue of a potential victim in Thane.
Trap Laid at Shahad Station Road Following Tip-Off
According to officials, acting on a tip-off received from an informer on July 31, police learned that a woman was allegedly called another woman at the location and lured her into prostitution. The location was identified as Shahad Station Road, near the Campus Corner building.
Woman Agent Nabbed On the Spot, Victim Rescued Safely
A police team laid a trap at the site, and when the agent arrived with the victim, she was apprehended on the spot. The woman being trafficked was rescued immediately.
FIR Registered Under BNS and Immoral Traffic Act
The accused was taken to the police station, where legal procedures were conducted. An FIR has been registered under Section 143(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
Accused in Police Custody; Victim Sent to Observation Home
She was produced before the court and has been remanded in police custody for further investigation. The rescued woman has been sent to an observation home. Police stated that further investigation is ongoing.
