Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently chaired a high-level meeting in Nashik on Sunday to review and accelerate preparations for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027. A globally renowned spiritual gathering that symbolises India's rich heritage, tradition, and Sanatan culture.
During the meeting, CM Fadnavis held in-depth discussions with the Mahants of various Akhadas, emphasising the importance of incorporating their experience to ensure a well-organised and spiritually enriching event. He affirmed that the 2027 edition will be “grand, divine, and truly unforgettable.”
In a post shared on X, CM Fadnavis announced that tenders worth Rs 4000 crore have already been issued, with an additional Rs 2000 crore in process. “This time, with more planning time than in 2015, preparations are in full swing,” he stated.

Focus Areas and Key Projects:
Clean Godavari Mission: A central priority is maintaining the cleanliness and continuous flow of the Godavari River. To achieve this, sewage management and STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) projects worth Rs 1200 crore will soon be launched to prevent pollution from entering the river. All infrastructure plans are being designed to be monsoon-ready for smooth execution.
Akhada Facilities: Adequate amenities will be arranged for the Akhadas. Plans are also underway to acquire land for a permanent Sadhugram.
Infrastructure Development: A robust road network is being developed to improve connectivity and manage crowds effectively at key points like Kushavart Kund.

Cultural and Heritage Preservation:
CM Fadnavis also revealed that a Rs 681 crore development plan for Chaundi, the birthplace of Punyashlok Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar, has been prepared. As part of this initiative, her historic ghats will be preserved and upgraded with world-class facilities.
