The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan has arrested a Chief Block Education Officer and his son for striking a deal to obtain the leaked question paper of the Sub Inspector (SI) recruitment exam for ₹10 lakh. The education officer made the deal for his son, who was selected and ranked 19th in the exam using the leaked paper.
SOG ADG VK Singh said, “Udaipur's Chief Block Education Officer (CBEO) Buddhisagar Upadhyay and his son Aditya Upadhyay have been arrested in the SI recruitment paper leak case. The investigation revealed that Buddhisagar Upadhyay had paid ₹10 lakh to obtain the paper for his son. Aditya secured the 19th rank in the SI recruitment exam.”
The SOG, which is investigating this controversial 2021 recruitment, had recently arrested teacher Kundan Kumar Pandya. The investigation revealed that he had supplied the paper to Buddhisagar. The SOG is now working to trace further links in the case.

Interrogation by the SOG revealed that Education Officer Upadhyay and teacher Pandya are old acquaintances and were in contact with former Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Babulal Katara, who had also been arrested in the SI recruitment paper leak case.
Notably, the SOG of the Rajasthan Police has so far arrested over 100 accused, including 55 trainee SIs and two RPSC members, in connection with the SI recruitment paper leak case. A writ petition seeking cancellation of the exam is currently pending before the High Court.
