Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai residents can finally rejoice as the much-anticipated Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1 is likely to be inaugurated on October 30. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a significant infrastructure project. The inauguration venue has been finalized and handed over to the security agency to ensure a smooth and secure event.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) site, a pivotal location for the city's transportation network.
CIDCO cooperates with MahaMetro
The City and Industrial Corporation Development (CIDCO) has been proactive in ensuring passenger safety and the overall readiness of the metro system. CIDCO has officially communicated with MahaMetro, urging them to complete preparations, with a specific focus on passenger safety. CIDCO has deployed a dedicated team of engineers who have meticulously inspected all metro stations, assessing passenger safety measures and station facilities. Their findings have been documented for each station, and these observations are attached herewith for immediate attention.
The communication from CIDCO also stressed the importance of addressing the observations made during the inspections promptly. They have requested MahaMetro to undertake necessary rectifications in response to the observations and submit a compliance report to the concerned office without delay.
Navi Mumbai Metro inauguration was initially postponed
Previously, the inauguration was initially scheduled for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit between October 15 and 17, but it was regrettably postponed. Now, with the October 30 inauguration date, the people of Navi Mumbai can look forward to the realization of this vital transportation project.
Meanwhile, CIDCO floated a tender worth ₹3.20 crores for the ground preparation work for the proposed visit of PM Narendra Modi for the Navi Mumbai Metro at NMIA which will include entry, exit and back stage works.
It is more than four months since CIDCO received the CMRS certificate for the commercial operation of line 1 from Belapur to Pendhar of Navi Mumbai Metro. CIDCO received the CMRS certificate on June 21 from the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for the commercial operation of line 1.
Anil Diggikar, vice chairman and managing director of CIDCO had even taken a ride on the Metro after receiving the certificate and assured to start its operation soon.
It took almost 12 years for CIDCO to make ready an 11 km stretch from Belapur Pendhar of line one of Navi Mumbai. Even though it already has received the safety certificate for commercial operation, thousands of citizens who reside in the Taloja area have to rely on other modes of transportation which are not only costly but also time taking.
