The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Panvel has announced the launch of a new registration number series for two-wheelers. Individuals interested in obtaining attractive or preferred registration numbers for their two-wheelers, upon payment of the prescribed fees, are invited to apply.
The department has issued a prescribed format tobbe submitted along with a Demand Draft (DD) and supporting documents.
The documents include , proof of residential address, identity proof, and self-attested copies of the PAN card at the Private Vehicle Section of the RTO.
The application is to be submitted during office hours between 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM on July 29, 2025, informed the Deputy Regional Transport Officer of Panvel.
In case multiple applications are received for the same registration number, a list of such applicants will be displayed on the RTO office notice board at 4:00 PM on July 29, 2025. " If more than one person has applied for the same number, they must take note and submit an additional Demand Draft (DD) with a sealed envelope indicating the extra amount they are willing to pay by 2:30 PM on July 30, 2025," said an official.
The additional DD must be for a minimum amount of Rs 301. Any DD below this amount will not be considered. A public auction for such numbers will be held the same day at 3:30 PM in the chamber of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, New Vehicle Registration Department.
The DD must be drawn in favor of RTO PANVEL from a nationalized or scheduled bank and must not be older than two months. Applicants must compulsorily attach self-attested copies of their PAN card and Aadhaar card with the application. Only one DD should be submitted in the sealed envelope for the auction.
Applications submitted with DDs older than two months or for amounts lower than the prescribed fee will be disqualified. Once a registration number is reserved, it cannot be changed. If the vehicle is not presented for registration within 180 days of reserving the number, the number will be automatically canceled, and the fee will be forfeited to the government.

The fee paid to reserve a specific registration number is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.
Applications are being accepted in advance for fancy numbers. However, the new series will not begin until the current series is exhausted. Additionally, DD receipts for the new series will not be issued until all numbers from the existing series are fully allotted. Applicants are advised to keep this in mind while submitting advance applications.
