Panvel: In a significant step towards enhancing urban greenery, the Panvel Municipal Corporation has announced the planting of 200 trees along the road leading to Owe village. The initiative is part of the Corporation’s ongoing “Clean Panvel, Beautiful Panvel, Green Panvel” campaign and aims to transform overgrown, unused roadside land into a green corridor.
The plantation drive began on Wednesday with the planting of 70 Bahava (Bauhinia) saplings from Jaykumar Circle to Owe village. The remaining 130 trees are expected to be planted in the coming days, completing the target of 200 for this stretch.
The decision to green this specific area was taken after repeated appeals from local residents, who highlighted the need for beautification and environmental restoration. Civic officials believe that the Bahava trees will significantly enhance the landscape and contribute to improving air quality.

As part of a wider afforestation plan, the Corporation has set a goal of planting over one lakh native trees across Panvel. Free saplings are being distributed to citizens through municipal garden centers.
