Navi Mumbai: In an alleged road rage, a 65-year-old retired financial consultant was allegedly assaulted by four unidentified men in broad daylight at Palm Beach road after he pointed out to a temporary driver that he was driving on wrong lane.

The incident happened at 3.25 pm near Akshar Chowk Signal on Palm Beach Road in Seawoods while on his way to Belapur court on Thursday afternoon.

The victim, Radheyshyam Govardhan Mundada, a resident of Vashi, was driving to Belapur court, when he signaled a slow-moving, overloaded tempo in the middle lane to shift lanes and drove past it. The tempo later overtook his car and stopped abruptly in front.

While two men got out of the tempo, two others who came in a seperate vehicle, joined them. The group of four then allegedly began to abuse Mundada, smashed his car’s side mirror, hit the bonnet, and damaged the driver-side window. One of the attackers the climbed onto the car’s bonnet.

Mundada drove directly to the Belapur court complex with one of the assailants still clinging to the bonnet. According to the complainant, while one accused was initially detained by the police at the court premises, he was allegedly let go before the complainant returned from his court appearance.

A case has been registered at the NRI Police Station under Sections 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 352 (intentional insult), and 324(4) (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) against four unidentified individuals aged between 25 and 30 years.
