Navi Mumbai: In a unique and heartwarming celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, Medicover Hospital, Navi Mumbai, organized a special baby shower event for over 20 expecting couples. The initiative combined fun, education, and family bonding to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and support expectant parents in their journey.

Breaking away from traditional medical sessions, the event featured interactive activities including couple games, a maternity-themed photo booth, and an informative breastfeeding awareness session. The aim was to create a vibrant atmosphere where couples could relax, engage, and learn about the significance of breastfeeding as a foundation of newborn and maternal health, said a spokesperson from Medicover Hospital.

Healthcare experts present at the event included Dr Anuranjita Pallavi, Dr Kalpana Gupta, and Dr Himani Gupta, while Dr Tanmesh Kumar Sahu, Consultant Neonatologist and NICU In-Charge, led the breastfeeding education session. "Breastfeeding provides essential nutrients and antibodies to infants, helping them build immunity and resist infections," said Dr Sahu. He also highlighted the health benefits for mothers, including faster postpartum recovery and reduced risks of breast and ovarian cancers.

“We recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, followed by gradual weaning while continuing breastfeeding up to two years or beyond,” said Dr Sahu said, adding, “Breastfeeding is not just nourishment—it’s an emotional and physical bond that lays the foundation for lifelong health.”

Dr Mataprasad Gupta, Centre Head of Medicover Hospitals, stated, “Our goal is to go beyond treatment. This baby shower is part of our commitment to creating awareness through engaging and meaningful experiences. We will continue to organize such events to support and empower families.”
