'Maharashtra Govt Committed To Farm Loan Waiver,' Says Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule

Minister Bawankule said the government is focusing on ensuring that loan waivers reach the “right farmers.” A committee has been constituted to conduct a survey and identify genuine beneficiaries. “Loan waivers should be based on merit. Farmers who genuinely need help will be considered. The aim is to support the most marginalized sections of society,” he stated.

Mumbai: The issue of farm loan waivers in Maharashtra has not been sidelined, and the BJP remains committed to fulfilling its election promise to waive loans for farmers. Only eligible and truly needy farmers will receive the benefit, assured State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule while addressing the media in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

A final decision on the waiver will be made after the committee submits its report.

Speaking on urban housing concerns, Bawankule said the government is working to provide relief to homeowners affected by “Gunthewari” (unauthorized layouts). Due to the Fragmentation Act, certain properties could not be registered. He said the Aurangabad Commissioner has been directed to prepare a list of constructions from before 2011 falling under Gunthewari for regularization. “If excess fees have been charged, they will be reduced to offer relief to common citizens,” he added.

He also informed that the government is actively working on key issues such as:

Removing encroachments on land under the Revenue Department

Converting Class-2 land to Class-1

Clearing illegal encroachments on access roads

Further, the requirement of a ₹500 stamp paper for educational certificates has been scrapped, and no royalty will be charged for the murum (soil) needed for house construction. He also said land has been allotted to the Sindhi community.

Shinde's Delhi Visit Routine, Says Bawankule

On Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s visit to Delhi, Bawankule clarified that the meetings are part of routine coordination among NDA leaders. “It is important for NDA leaders to stay in touch and coordinate on various political matters. Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis also meet regularly. There is nothing unusual in this,” he said.
