Mumbai: A 27-year-old woman was killed late Sunday night in Ulwe Sector-5 after an unidentified assailant attacked her on a public road and slit her throat. The victim, Alvina Kishorsingh alias Alvina Adamli Khan, was a resident of Vijay Laxmi Tower in Ulwe and lived with her husband Kishorsingh Rajput. The couple, married for last four years, operated a medical store in the same area. While Rajput was a D Pharm graduate, Khan was a B Pharm graduate and operated the pharmacy together.
According to police, Khan had visited her relatives in Mumbai on Sunday and was returning home around 11:45 PM. After alighting on the main road of Sector-5, she began walking the short distance—approximately 50 meters—towards her residence. “It was during this time that an unidentified man, reportedly following her, confronted her near Radiance Splendor Building and attacked her with a sharp weapon, fatally slashing her throat,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (Port Zone) Vishal Nehul, said.
Witnesses told police that she collapsed on the spot, grievously injured. The attacker fled the scene immediately. Locals who noticed the incident rushed to help, but Khan succumbed to her injuries within minutes, said police.

Upon receiving information, the Ulwe Police arrived at the scene and took possession of the body. Initial statements from nearby residents suggest the assailant had covered his face with a handkerchief to conceal his identity. Police have filed a case of murder against the unidentified person and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area in an effort to track down the culprit.
The couple had a love marriage but were contemplating on a divorce, police said. The police have detained a male friend of the deceased for further interrogation.
