Navi Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a 39-year-old man became the victim of chain snatching while returning home from work in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The incident occurred around 11:00 to 11:15 pm on Wednesday near the signal in front of the Hotel.
The victim, a resident of Shree Tower in Sector 20, Kharghar, was riding home on his two-wheeler after completing his office shift. As he slowed down at a speed bump near the signal, a woman riding another two-wheeler approached him. Suddenly, a thief riding pillion on the woman’s bike snatched the gold chain from the man’s neck and fled the scene, as reported by Loksatta.

The man attempted to chase the thieves, but they escaped within moments under the cover of darkness. A case has been registered against the unidentified culprits at Kharghar Police Station. Following the incident, police began reviewing CCTV footage in an attempt to trace the suspects. However, they have not yet been able to identify the number plate or gather additional details about the thieves’ vehicle, as reported.
Residents expressed concern over the growing trend of street crimes in Navi Mumbai, noting that men are becoming as vulnerable as women to such offences. In recent weeks, several cases have emerged, including incidents where elderly people were robbed by individuals posing as police officers, particularly in Panvel.
Police suspect that the same group of thieves may be involved in multiple recent cases. Investigations are ongoing.
