In connection with the decomposed bodies of three persons found in a mangled car in Umbarmali village, off Kasara Ghat on Thursday, the Kasara police have registered an FIR against Yagyesh Waghela, who was driving the car and died in the accident. The police lodged charges under Section 106(1) for causing death by negligence, Section 281 for rash driving under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and relevant sections of Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The deceased have been identified as Yagyesh Waghela, 27, a resident of Khar; Pravin Kumar Singh, 27, a resident of Powai; and Rajboli Mulla Shaikh, 29, a resident of Kurla. The car is suspected to have fallen off the hill.

Investigating officer Suresh Gavit from the Kasara Police Station said, "The car belonged to Waghela's brother-in-law, who had given it to him for use in a marriage function for the past eight days. During the preliminary investigation, it was learned that all three were bachelors. We will record the statements of their family members once they recover from the trauma. Further investigation is ongoing."

Gavit added that preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle was being driven recklessly and the driver had lost control.

The police said the three victims had set out from Mumbai in a car on June 2 and were headed to Trimbakeshwar in Nashik. It is suspected that the driver lost control and allegedly collided with two to three trees before the car plunged nearly 40 feet off the road.

The incident came to light on Thursday evening when a local woman grazing her cattle noticed a foul smell coming from the mangled vehicle hidden in the bushes. Upon approaching, she discovered the three decomposed bodies and immediately alerted the villagers, who informed the police.
