Mumbai: As pre-monsoon showers arrived with full charm on Saturday morning, several parts of the city including Navi Mumbai, Thane, CSMT, and the western suburbs, were treated to heavy rainfall. While the city soaked under the grey skies, it also witnessed a vibrant sight: children playing football at the iconic Dadar ground, with the majestic Worli Sea Link providing a dramatic monsoon backdrop.

These cheerful scenes captured the spirit of Mumbaikars, who welcomed the cool showers after a sweltering summer. The rains brought not just relief, but also moments of joy and nostalgia for many residents.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the city will experience partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain throughout the day. This spell is part of the ongoing pre-monsoon activity, typically seen in Mumbai during the latter half of May.

Though the official monsoon onset for Mumbai is generally expected between June 10 and 15, early showers have arrived, painting the city in familiar monsoon hues. Roads glistened, trees swayed, and the scent of wet earth filled the air, reminding everyone of the beauty of the rains.

IMD also forecasts persistent rainfall across parts of southern India, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, over the next five days, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

In Mumbai, however, the spirit remains undeterred. From cosy tea stalls to open football fields, residents are making the most of the rain-soaked weekend. The sight of children kicking a ball with carefree laughter, set against the sea and skyline, is a reminder of Mumbai’s enduring bond with the monsoon.
