Mumbai: A crackdown is presently in progress against Bangladeshis who have entered India and illegally made Mumbai their home and part of their livelihood. After taking on the role of Commissioner, Deven Bharti was instructed to escalate this operation.
Thus, it is recognised that the rehabilitation of 250 Bangladeshi citizens has taken place over two days, Thursday and Friday. This marks the initial instance of executing a deportation operation on such a large scale.
Police announce closure of bank accounts for Bangladeshi citizens illegally residing in different areas of Mumbai. Despite the police initiating a crackdown, the procedure of repatriating Bangladeshi nationals after their arrest can take several years according to a report by Lokmat.
Once numerous Bangladeshis establish themselves in India, additional Bangladeshi nationals also engage in illegal work to reside here. Consequently, the ATS of Mumbai Police has initiated a campaign against individuals supplying documents and support to infiltrators. Notifications are being dispatched to banks to terminate the bank accounts of individuals suspected to be Bangladeshi citizens.

In addition to this, communication is also taking place with the appropriate departments concerning the cancellation of ration cards and driving licenses. At the same time, on Thursday night, 145 Bangladeshi individuals were deported, with over 70 of them being women. They were accompanied by men, children, and transgender individuals. On Friday, over 150 individuals were expelled.
