Mumbai Tragedy: Motorcycle Battery Explodes In Mumbra, Three Women Suffer 30% Burns

Three women, including two daughters, suffered burn injuries after a motorcycle battery exploded inside a house in Mumbra on Sunday evening. The incident occurred in the ground-plus-five-storey Supreme Tower located in Almas Colony, Kausa, Mumbra, Thane.

The injured have been identified as Nusrat Sayyed (45), the mother, and her daughters Hafza Sayyed (24) and Afza Sayyed (18). They were inside their ground-floor home when the motorcycle battery exploded, triggering a fire that destroyed a washing machine, clothes, and electrical wiring.

Locals immediately alerted the authorities. Yasin Tadvi, Chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, said, “We received information at 5:17 PM and dispatched a fire tender and a rescue vehicle to the spot. The fire was brought under control.”

The three women were rushed to a nearby private hospital and later referred to Wadia Hospital in Mumbai for further treatment. Authorities confirmed that the victims sustained facial and hand injuries, with burn wounds covering over 30 percent of their bodies.
