Mumbai: Members of Mumbai's Roman Catholic church have been asked to hold prayers on Friday and Sunday for the health of Pope Francis who is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Rome.
After earlier concerns about his medical condition, the Pope is now reported to be stable. On Thursday morning, the Vatican News quoted the Holy See Press Office's note to journalists which said: "Pope Francis has had a restful night and this morning, got out of bed and had breakfast in an armchair."
Pope Fracnis, head of the Roman Catholic Church, is being treated for double pneumonia. On Wednesday evening, the Holy See Press Office issued a statement noting that his clinical condition "is stable," and that "the blood tests, evaluated by the medical staff, show a slight improvement, particularly in the inflammatory indices."
In Mumbai, Auxiliary Bishop Savio Fernandes, issued a circular to members of the clergy and the community to pray for the Pope's recovery. Fernandes said he was instructed by Archbishop John Rodrigues to call upon members of the church to support the Pope with their prayers, asking God to grant him strength, healing, and a quick recovery.
Fernandes asked all parishes, religious communities, and families to offer special prayers for the Pope and remember him in their religious services, rosaries, and in personal and communal devotions.

Fernandes said church members can organise a half hour of prayer on Friday, 21st February 2025 and pray especially for Pope Francis' health, and/or include an intention in the Prayer of the Faithful on Sunday, 23rd February 2025.
