A 40-year-old man died after falling from a slow local train in the early hours of Friday. The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Surve, a Kalwa resident. The Mumbai Central railway police have registered an accidental death report.
According to the railway police, Surve was travelling from CSMT to Dombivli when he fell from the train around 12.45am and suffered severe injuries to his head and body. He was transported to Nair Hospital where he was declared dead an hour later. After the post-mortem, the police handed over Surve's body to his wife, Sakshi, 40. The family resides in Kalwa, Thane.
A police officer ruled out suicide angle for now, saying, “We will investigate the matter. If any evidence pointing to suicide or foul play is found, we will register a case accordingly.”
The officer added that the family was in deep shock, so they could not gather details about the deceased's profession and other personal information. “We will speak to his wife later for further inquiry,” he added.
