Mumbai: After three days relying on tankers for the supply of water, the state secretariat building - Mantralaya finally got it's regular water supply back. A statement released by the authorities on Friday said that the pipeline which supplies water to Mantralaya's main and administrative building was blocked with to sand and small stones, which had decreased the water pressure. The pipeline was cleared by BMC and PWD staff and regular water supply was restored.

It came as a surprise that the state headquarter, which houses offices of all ministers and secretariat staff, was falling short of even drinking water for as much as three days. "I was on duty for state assembly, but when I returned to office on Wednesday, there was very less to no water. They say supply was resumed on Thursday night, but we were not sure if it was tanker water or regular BMC water. We purchased packaged water for drinking."

An officer from BMC's A ward said that the pipeline supplying water to Mantralaya are of BMC but the issue was in the meter room inside premises, which falls under PWD.

"There was no issue from BMC's side. We are not sure how sand and small stones in big amount entered the meter room that resulted into the blockage. The supply was not completely stopped, but was on low pressure. The repair work was completed by Thursday night and regular supply was restored," the officer said.
