Mumbai: The police in Mulund have filed a case against two people for reportedly assaulting and bothering a 22-year-old woman and her 44-year-old mother after they were caught feeding stray dogs on the grounds of a housing society in Mulund. The police stated that the attackers tore the garments from the daughter.
According to the police, the 22-year-old who filed the original FIR works at a private firm and lives in Mulund with her mother. Her grandfather lives in another housing society nearby, and she and her mother often visit his building to feed the stray dogs in the area.
Some individuals from the community disapproved and alerted the watchman to prevent the women from feeding. On the day of the attack, the guards initially attempted to prevent the women from feeding the dogs and subsequently alerted the society members who came down to confront the mother and daughter.
An FIR was filed following the account provided by the 22-year-old woman and her mother, leading to the booking of two individuals from the community under sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force against any woman, intending to violate her modesty), 352 (deliberate insult aimed at provoking a disturbance), and 115 (intentionally inflicting harm) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The police subsequently filed a cross case, and a second FIR was created following a complaint made by a society member in which the mother and daughter were charged with trespassing.
