The police have booked an unknown person based on actor Anuj Sachdeva's complaint of relocation of a newborn community kitten from his residential society Harmony Mall Residency in Goregaon (W). He raised a doubt against the society's secretary for relocating the cat and had also shared a video on his social media which had gone viral.
On Saturday, the Bangur Nagar police registered a first information report (FIR) against an unknown person for allegedly relocating a newborn kitten from the Harmony Mall Residency society’s premises. Sachdeva, who also resides in the building, told the police that a cat had given birth to seven kittens on May 22 but one of them was missing on the morning of May 30, when he went to feed the cats.
According to the FIR, Sachdeva alleged that the society’s secretary Pramila Shinde had told the watchman to not allow the stray dogs and cats to live in the society, just a day before the kitten went missing. He raised doubt against Shinde alleging that she was angered because of the stray animals living in the society premises and his act of feeding them. He had also recorded a video regarding this issue and had circulated on social media earlier this week.

On the basis of the actor’s complaint, the police have filed an FIR against an unknown person under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
Talking to The Free Press Journal, Sachdeva said, “I have been feeding the animals in the society since I have been living in the society and seeing such a thing happen really breaks my heart. We tried to find the kitten in the surrounding neighbourhood but did not succeed. I believe she would not have survived by now but I made sure to take this ahead legally with the help of the Pure Animal Lovers Foundation.”
