The Shree Mumbadevi temple, Mumbadevi Road, organised a special puja and havan ceremony on Friday morning for world peace and prosperity.
The ritual was part of the temple's Ashadi Navratri celebrations. This navratri, one of the four such auspicious nine-night periods in the Hindu calendar, is celebrated in the holy month of Ashad. Ashadi Gupt Navratri, so called because it is largely observed by ascetics, is a less-known compared to the Chaitra and Shardiya navratris.
The navratri that occurs during Magha is also called Gupt Navratri. The gupt navratris are devoted to meditation, sadhana, and other rigorous religious practices. In 2025, it was celebrated between June 26 and July 4.

All the 15 priests of Mumbadevi temple participated in the ceremony, which lasted for five hours from 7.00 am.
Hemant Jadhav, manager of the Shree Mumbadevi Temple Trust Fund, said that the mahayagya or fire sacrifice was offered for the welfare of the world, universal prosperity, and global peace. Temple trustees Chandrakant Sanghvi and Mihir Mehta took part in the rituals.
