Two young MLAs from the ruling Mahayuti took the government off guard by attacking two state enterprises – the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Mahavitaran (Maharashtra Power Distribution Company), in the state assembly on Friday.
While the BJP MLA Vikram Pachpute criticised the FDA, the Shiv Sena MLA Nilesh Rane exposed the Mahavitaran’s Konkan unit.
Pachpute brought to the notice of the house that the banned gutka and paan masala were easily available at various places. People chew gutka and spit even on the premises of the Vidhan Bhavan, said the MLA, making the treasury benches uncomfortable. If the ban cannot be enforced at Vidhan Bhavan premises, what message will the state of Maharashtra get? he questioned.

Nilesh Rane, brother of Minister Nitesh Rane, slammed Mahavitaran for neglecting Konkan consumers, citing poor training and over-reliance on contractual staff. He said 11 such workers have died and power supply remains erratic.
Taking a dig at the minister of state for energy Meghana Sakore Bordikar, Rane said, people from the region have become used to the interrupted power supply. The MoS assured him that a meeting of the public representatives from the region would be called soon to discuss issues related to it.
