Dahisar Police have arrested a man from Karnataka who used social media to befriend young women and then sexually harassed them. The accused created and circulated obscene images using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blackmailed the victims into engaging in nude video calls. The case came to light after a 19-year-old girl filed a complaint, leading to the discovery of over 13,000 photos of girls stored on his mobile phone.
The girl alleged that the accused, whom she met on Instagram, had begun pressuring her for a nude video call. When she refused, he created a fake Instagram page in her name and uploaded AI-generated obscene images of her along with defamatory content. Following her complaint, Dahisar Police registered a case and launched a technical investigation.
Using digital footprints and technical inputs—including details from Facebook, Instagram, and Google—police traced the accused’s IP address to Sandur in Bellary district, Karnataka. The accused, identified as Shubham Kumar Manojprasad Singh (25), who works as a security guard, was then arrested.
13,500 Girls’ Photos and 100+ Fake Instagram IDs Found
Dahisar Police Inspector Abdul Haq Desai stated that Singh had received special computer training in Delhi, which he misused to exploit girls online. He would create attractive AI-generated profile pictures to lure victims. Once they accepted his friend requests, he would collect their real photos, morph them into explicit content using AI, and blackmail them.

Police found over 100 fake Instagram profiles and 13,500 photos of different girls saved in his mobile gallery. At the time of his arrest, he was in communication with over 50 women.
Police are now trying to identify and contact other potential victims. Dahisar Police have appealed to any woman who has been harassed by Singh to come forward and contact the police station.
The operation was carried out by a team under DCP Zone 12 Mahesh Chimte, Senior PI Ashok Honmane, PI A.H. Desai, and Cyber Cell API Ankush Dandge.
