Mumbai: In his first major reshuffle since taking over as Mumbai Police Commissioner, Deven Bharti has transferred 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) across various zones of the city. The reshuffle includes significant reassignments, including the long-awaited appointment of a full-time DCP for the Cyber Cell, which had been functioning without a dedicated officer for over 18 months.
IPS officer Purushottam Karad has now been appointed as the full-time DCP of the Mumbai Cyber Cell, ending the temporary charge previously held by a DCP from the Crime Branch. Another key highlight of the reshuffle is that several officers have been reinstated to the very posts from which they were transferred before the state assembly elections.
According to the official transfer order issued by the Mumbai CP, Krishnakant Upadhyay returns as DCP Zone 3, a post he held before being transferred to Headquarters 1 prior to the elections.
Datta Nalawade, currently Crime Branch DCP, has been reassigned as DCP Zone 10, a position he earlier held before his Crime Branch tenure. Dattatray Kamble, who was DCP Zone 3, has been shifted back to Special Branch 1, where he had served earlier. Mahesh Chimte, previously with the Protection Branch, is now DCP Zone 12. Navnath Dhawale moves from Zone 6 to become the DCP, Anti-Narcotics Cell.

Vijaykant Sagar, earlier DCP Zone 7, is now the DCP, Port Zone. Prashant Pardeshi becomes the DCP, South Traffic Division. Nimit Goyal has been appointed as the DCP, STF (EOW). Shyam Ghughe is now with the Protection Branch. Smita Patil is posted at Headquarters 1.
Pradnya Jedge will oversee Mantralaya Security. Sachin Gunjal, previously DCP Zone 10, has been made DCP (Preventive), Crime Branch. Sameer Aslam Shaikh, transferred in from outside Mumbai, becomes the new DCP Zone 6. Rakesh Ola is appointed as the new DCP Zone 7. Rajtilak Roshan, transferred from the DG’s office, is now the new DCP, Crime Branch.
This extensive reshuffle is seen as a strategic move by CP Deven Bharti to reorganize key leadership positions in the city ahead of crucial administrative and security responsibilities.
