Suburban train services on the UP fast line of Central Railway's Mumbai suburban network were severely disrupted late Monday night after an overhead wire snapped between Kurla and Sion stations.
The incident occurred around 10:10 pm, leading to a technical snag that damaged the pantograph (panto) of a local train. This resulted in a halt of up fast line suburban services on the affected section. Railway authorities immediately imposed a power block between Vidyavihar and Dadar at 10:27 pm to carry out urgent repair work.
As a result, atleast three trains were held up en route, and some services were diverted via the slow line from Mulund to minimize passenger inconvenience.
Railway officials said restoration work was taken up on priority, and efforts were made to resume normal services as soon as possible.
