The Enforcement Wing of the Mumbai Police on Saturday conducted a raid in Govandi, Bainganwadi and busted a prostitution racket. The Police rescued three females, including two minor girls, and detained a 42-year-old woman identified as Shama Shahnawaz Patel, who is accused of running the illegal operation.
A case has been registered in Shivaji Nagar Police Station, against Shama Patel under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act. She has been served a notice for further legal action.
The two rescued minors have been placed in the Deonar Remand Home for their safety and rehabilitation.
According to the registered complaint, Woman Police Constable Yoti Devdas Jagtap,35, attached to the Enforcement Wing, based on credible information, about prostitution activities at a room located at Plot No. 23, Road No. 10 in Bainganwadi. Acting swiftly, police conducted a raid at around 3 PM on Saturday

During the operation, two 17-year-old girls and a 35-year-old woman—all residents of Bharat Nagar—were rescued from the premises. The accused, Shama Patel, was taken into custody on the spot.
The police seized ₹8,000 in cash, a mobile phone, screenshot prints, and a memory card containing video footage from the premises. A case has been registered against Shama Patel and she has been issued a notice to appear for further investigation, police officials said.
