Mumbai: A 19-year-old hotel waiter has been arrested by the LT Marg Police after he was allegedly caught recording videos of women using a common toilet in Bhuleshwar.
About The Incident
The incident occurred around 6 PM on May 28 when the Mobile Patrol Unit of LT Marg Police Station was patrolling the Atmaram Merchant Road area near Bhuleshwar. Two women approached the patrolling officers and complained that an unknown man was recording them using his mobile phone while they were inside the common toilet at Jai Hind Estate Building.
Acting swiftly, the police traced the accused to the Namo Hotel, where he worked as a waiter. The suspect, identified as Rajankumar Pramod Chaupal (19), was taken into custody and brought to the police station for questioning.
Although the victims declined to file a formal complaint, the police themselves registered an FIR and booked the accused under Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, considering the sensitivity and potential seriousness of the offence. Chaupal has been formally arrested, and further investigation is underway.
