Mumbai Crime: Man Stabs Wife To Death After Argument At Friend's House In Malad East; Arrested

Tensions between the couple escalated due to family disapproval, accusations of photo-sharing, demands for money, and suspicions of infidelity, leading to the fatal stabbing.

In Malad East, a husband allegedly killed his wife on December 29. The accused, Nitin Jambhale, 32, stabbed his wife, Komal Shelar, 25, with a large knife, causing her death. The Dindoshi police arrested Jambhale on December 30, and the court remanded him to police custody until January 7.

According to the police, Nitin and Komal both lived in the Kasam Baug area of Malad East. They met in 2009, became friends, and later developed a romantic relationship. In 2019, they had a court marriage. However, their families did not accept the marriage, so the couple lived separately while remaining in contact.

Tensions arose between them due to family disapproval and and then within both increased various disagreements. Komal had filed a case against Nitin, accusing him of making her photos viral. Nitin, in turn, claimed that Komal had also shared their photos and frequently demanded money from him. He further alleged that he suspected her of having affairs, which added to their conflicts.

On December 29, the couple decided to meet at a friend's residence at Room Number 8, Parvati Bai More Chawl, Kasam Baug, Malad East. Between 7.30 p.m. and 9.45 p.m., during their discussion, an argument broke out and escalated. In a fit of rage, Nitin attacked Komal with a knife, inflicting severe stomach injuries. Komal’s family rushed her to Trauma Hospital in Jogeshwari East, where doctors pronounced her dead upon examination.

Nitin Jambhale resides in Ramaji Chorge Chawl in Malad East and works in a private Bank. The police registered a case against him under Section 103 (1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act, on December 30 and subsequently arrested. The deceased worked in a private company.
