The Bandra Crime Branch has uncovered a plot to frame a jeweler by planting weapons in his shop. Two individuals, identified as shop employee Ketan Manish Parikh and his accomplice Niranjan Sudarshan Gupta, have been arrested in connection with the case. Police have seized a locally-made pistol, a magazine, nine live cartridges, and three mobile phones from the accused. The duo has been remanded into police custody until December 30, following a court order.

Ketan Parikh, a resident of Bhayander, was employed at the shop owned by 67-year-old jeweler Kiranraj Munnalalji Shah in Chirabazar.

Investigations revealed that Ketan had hidden the weapons in the shop to falsely implicate his employer. Senior Police Inspector Daya Nayak received information about the plot and directed his team to take swift action.

A team comprising officers Sachin Puranik, Bhikaji Khadpekar, Nanasaheb Shelke, Vinay Chougule, Amol Sonawane, and Shashikant Nikam conducted surveillance in plain clothes in the Chira Bazar area. They subsequently raided the shop and recovered the concealed weapons.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Niranjan Gupta had supplied the weapons to Ketan, who intended to frame his employer by filing a false case. The police have registered a case against both accused for the illegal possession of weapons.

The duo was presented in Killa Court and remanded to police custody. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the weapons and to ascertain the motive behind Ketan’s plot to frame his employer.
