Mumbai: A crane overturned following a collision with a truck at the Aarey Bridge in Mumbai's Goregaon, on Friday morning, leading to major traffic disruption on the busy Western Express Highway (WEH) during peak hours. The mishap caused a massive jam on the southbound stretch, affecting office-goers and early commuters.
According to reports by IANS, both the crane and truck drivers sustained injuries in the incident. Immediate medical attention was provided, though the severity of the injuries is yet to be officially confirmed. The traffic normalcy in the area was restored after almost two hours.

Visuals circulating online show the crane toppled over the barricade wall of the flyover, creating a hazardous situation for passing vehicles. Local authorities, including the Mumbai Traffic Police and emergency personnel, rushed to the spot and began efforts to remove the overturned crane and resume smooth traffic flow.

The Mumbai Traffic Police issued an alert on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), warning commuters to expect delays. The post read: “Traffic Movement Is Slow At Aarey Bridge (Dindoshi) South Bound Due To Accident.” Commuters were advised to take alternate routes while recovery operations were underway.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident, including whether overspeeding or a mechanical failure may have contributed to the crash. Efforts were made to clear the flyover and restore normalcy as quickly as possible.
