Mumbai: In a unique and festive display, Janmashtami 2025 was celebrated inside a Mumbai local train, as seen in a video that surfaced online on Saturday. The video, recorded in a general coach, shows passengers enthusiastically participating in Dahi Handi celebrations during their commute.
The atmosphere turned devotional and joyful as people performed pooja and broke a small handi, accompanied by the popular Krishna bhajan “Haathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki," and also dancing in the local train. The celebrations reflected the spirit of Janmashtami, bringing a cultural touch to the daily life of commuters.

Women’s Group Breaks Dahi Handi In Mumbai’s Dadar
In a proud and spirited moment during Janmashtami 2025, a group of women broke the first Dahi Handi of the day in Mumbai’s Dadar area, officially ushering in the city’s vibrant festive celebrations. Forming a human pyramid, the women reached and broke the handi, a ritual that symbolises the playful and fearless spirit of Lord Krishna’s childhood.
After their impressive feat, the team was awarded a trophy. One of the participants shared their excitement, saying, “We were preparing for almost a month... We will participate in more events today and break at least 10 Dahi Handis.”
