Mumbai: Candidates caught cheating in 'Munna Bhai' style during police recruitment exam, four cases registered

The accused used the devices in ‘Munna Bhai’ style, a Bollywood movie that shows a candidate using electronic devices for cheating in exams.

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against four candidates who rigged the examination for the recruitment of a constable in Mumbai Police. Different types of electronic devices used for copying were recovered from all four accused. Two of them have been arrested and the other two have been issued notices.

Candidates kept small electronic device in ears like Munna Bhai

The accused used the devices in ‘Munna Bhai’ style, a Bollywood movie that shows a candidate using electronic devices for cheating in exams. These candidates kept a small device in their ears in the same way that helped them to clear the paper.

With the help of some examinees who noticed them cheating, the police found out that the candidates were taking help from another person sitting outside the examination centre who would tell them the answers.

Four FIRs registered at different police stations

Mumbai Police have registered a total of four FIRs in different police stations. Out of which JB Khot School, Borivali under Kasturba Police Station, Unnat Mahanagar Palika Vidyalaya, Meghwadi Mahanagar Palika Vidyalaya, under Goregaon Police Station and Bright School, under Bhandup Police Station, were copying by plugging electronic devices into their ears.

According to information received from the police, the Kasturba Marg police station has registered an FIR against Ravindra Kale, 33. A pen fitted with a SIM card has also been seized. Shivam Velus, who passed on information to Kale through the device, has also been made an accused. Police have given notice to Kale under CrPC Act 41(A) in this matter.

The Girgaon Police have arrested Yuvraj Dhansingh Jarwal. He is a resident of Aurangabad. The police seized hand gloves fitted with a sim card and a micro mic. In this case, another person who was telling the answers to the questions has also been made an accused.

The Meghwadi police caught Nitesh Raghunath Aarekar, who was copying with the help of a wireless ear microphone. A case was also filed against Ashok Dhole for helping the candidate.

The Bhandup police caught Bablu Madansingh Medharwal, who was being told answers by Pritam Gussing while sitting at a short distance. He was alter arrested.

78,522 candidates appeared for examination

Deputy Commissioner of Police Headquarters 2, Tejashwi Satpute, said that the written examination for the recruitment of constables in Mumbai Police was held on Sunday at 213 examination centers across Mumbai. A total of 83,748 candidates were to appear in this examination, but only 78,522 candidates appeared.
