Mumbai: A 25-year-old gym trainer died by suicide by jumping in front of a train allegedly due to constant harassment by debt recovery agents. The deceased, identified as Rahul Vishwakarma, was working as a private fitness trainer. Before taking the drastic step, he recorded three video messages and sent them to his family members, naming the recovery agents who allegedly drove him to end his life.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon between Tilak Nagar and Chembur railway stations, where Vishwakarma jumped in front of a moving train. Police identified him through an ATM card found in his pocket. A resident of Dharavi, Rahul had taken a personal loan which, according to him, he had already repaid. However, in his videos, he mentioned being harassed for excessive interest payments by recovery agents.

In the videos, Rahul accused four individuals of mentally torturing him over the loan and stated, "I am dying because of their harassment. Do not spare them." His family approached the local police with the videos, and before any action could be taken, Rahul ended his life.

Wadala Railway Police registered a case under abetment to suicide charges against four debt recovery agents. Senior Police Inspector Arshuddin Shaikh of Wadala GRP confirmed that Rahul had visited his girlfriend in Jaipur the day before but returned to Mumbai after being summoned by the agents, which reportedly left him distressed. The exact loan amount Rahul had taken is still under investigation. The police are examining the video messages and continuing the probe.
