Maharashtra Revenue Minister and BJP State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced that the state government will introduce a law in the upcoming monsoon session of the legislature allowing the legal subdivision of one-guntha (1,089 sq. ft.) plots in residential areas.
Speaking to the media, Bawankule said that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the Revenue Department to amend the existing anti-fragmentation law. “We are taking the next step towards implementing these reforms. Since the Mahayuti government came to power in Maharashtra, the Revenue Department has taken around 17 to 18 important decisions, and implementation has already begun,” he stated.
He further informed that in the monsoon session, the government would also push for initiatives such as One State One Registration and vertical ownership rights, aiming to modernize land and housing records.

Discussion with Union Power Minister on NTPC Project
Bawankule also spoke about his recent visit to Delhi, where he met with Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The discussions focused on the rehabilitation of Kumbhari village in Mouda Taluka of Nagpur district, which has been affected by the NTPC power project. He emphasized that just as land acquisition for agriculture was carried out, proper rehabilitation of homes in the affected areas should also be ensured.
Marathi Language at the Core of State Governance
Addressing concerns about the use of the Marathi language, Bawankule reaffirmed its central role in the functioning of the state government. “All proceedings in the legislature are conducted in Marathi, and all signage and official boards within the Assembly are also in Marathi,” he said.
On 11 Years of Modi Government
Reflecting on the 11-year tenure of the Modi government, Bawankule highlighted the Prime Minister’s focus on women empowerment. “The initiatives taken for women under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership are unprecedented in the history of independent India. From local self-governance bodies to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, women have been given prominence. Through 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and State Assemblies, Modi ji has brought women into the mainstream and closer to the power center,” he said.
