Ravindra Chavan, the newly appointed Maharashtra State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday. This marked Chavan’s first official meeting with the Prime Minister since his unanimous election as state president on July 1, 2025, succeeding Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

Party Expansion Plans Presented During Courtesy Visit

During the courtesy visit, Chavan presented a comprehensive overview of the BJP’s organizational activities in Maharashtra, including plans for upcoming programs and strategies for party expansion.

He submitted a special booklet detailing the party’s Karya Vistar Abhiyan (Party Expansion Campaign), which outlines ongoing efforts at the booth level, including membership drives, training programs for office-bearers, outreach initiatives, and activities led by the women’s and youth wings.

PM Modi Expresses Confidence in Chavan’s Leadership

Prime Minister Modi congratulated Chavan on his new role and extended best wishes for his future endeavors, expressing confidence in his leadership to strengthen the party’s presence in Maharashtra.

The meeting underscores the BJP’s focus on bolstering its organizational framework ahead of crucial local body elections expected later this year.

Chavan Aims for ‘100% BJP’ Victory in 2029 Without Allies

Chavan, a four-time MLA from Dombivli and a close aide of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is tasked with advancing the party’s Shat Pratishat BJP (100% BJP) goal to secure victory in the 2029 Assembly polls without relying on allies.

His leadership has already been credited with enrolling 1.5 crore new members in the state, reflecting his organizational prowess.

Meeting Seen as Step Toward Aligning with National Vision of Viksit Bharat

The BJP leadership and supporters view this interaction as a pivotal moment in aligning Maharashtra’s party objectives with the national vision of Viksit Bharat under Modi’s guidance.
