Mumbai: A case has been registered at the Marine Drive Police Station against a security manager for allegedly stealing 261 official IPL player jerseys worth ₹6.52 lakh from the BCCI’s official merchandise store located on the second floor of Wankhede Stadium.
The FIR has been filed under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The theft occurred on June 13, 2025, and the complaint was officially registered on July 17, 2025. According to the police, the complaint was lodged by Hemang Bharat Kumar Amin (44), a BCCI employee residing in Mahim.
Jerseys of All 10 IPL Teams Stolen
Amin, who works at the BCCI’s Wankhede Stadium office, alleged that Farukh Aslam Khan (46), a security manager and a resident of Gaurav Excellency, Mira Road East, entered the official BCCI merchandise store and, without consent, dishonestly took IPL player jerseys belonging to teams such as DC, MI, LSG, SRH, KKR, PBKS, GT, RCB, RR, and CSK.

The stolen items 261 jerseys in total were valued at ₹6,52,500. Based on Amin’s formal complaint, the Marine Drive Police have initiated an investigation and booked Farukh Aslam Khan for theft under BNS Section 306. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the sequence of events and recover the stolen merchandise.
