Palghar, Maharashtra: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Crime Branch Unit 2, Vasai, has arrested two individuals and seized cannabis valued at ₹1,69,760, along with cash and drug packaging materials.
The operation, part of a broader crackdown on narcotics distribution, was initiated on May 28, 2025. At approximately 4:00 pm, Sub-Inspector Sopan Patil received a tip-off regarding cannabis being stored and sold from a ground-floor flat in Gagangiri Apartment, Virar East.
Following legal formalities, a police team led by Police Inspector Dhananjay Pore and officers from Crime Branch Unit 2, raided Syed Manzil near Makwana Complex in Gopcharpada, Virar East.
During the raid, Pradyumn Vitthal Kamble (25), a resident of Ramu Compound, Virar East, was apprehended in possession of 70 grams of wet cannabis buds. Interrogation revealed that he had obtained the drugs from Altaaf alias Lala Syed Hussain, who resides at Syed Manzil.

A subsequent search of Altaaf's residence led to the discovery of 2.806 kilograms of wet cannabis, a substantial amount of cash, and drug packaging materials. The total value of the seized items amounted to ₹1,69,760.
Both accused have been booked under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(B), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The case has been registered at Virar Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
