Mumbai: K J Somaiya Hospital & Research Centre has launched a month-long campaign titled #HerHealthOurPromise to raise awareness about the vital importance of maternal health. The campaign has reached more than 600 patients and hospital staff through various informative and performance-based activities conducted at the hospital.

As part of this campaign, the hospital has initiated several innovative activities aimed at educating and supporting mothers. One such activity includes a series of yoga sessions specially designed for hospital staff mothers and their children. These sessions focused on relaxation and physical wellness, helping mothers manage stress and maintain good health during and after pregnancy. The hospital believes that incorporating such holistic practices can significantly improve maternal health outcomes.

The Nursing Department at K J Somaiya Hospital & Research Centre has taken an active role in spreading awareness by conducting engaging street plays within the hospital premises. The skits, performed in the presence of patients and hospital staff, highlight the importance of adopting healthy habits during pregnancy and after childbirth. The interactive nature of the performance helps convey critical messages about prenatal and postnatal care in a relatable and memorable way.

Extending its commitment beyond the hospital walls, the hospital is collaborating with local non-governmental organisations to organise health camps in vulnerable slum areas and societies across Mumbai. These camps aim to provide accessible maternal health services, including health check-ups, counselling, and education, targeting 1,000+ mothers throughout the campaign period. This outreach effort is designed to bridge the gap in healthcare access and ensure that even the most underserved communities receive vital maternal health support.

Dr. Manisha Bobade, CEO of K J Somaiya Hospital & Research Centre, said, “Mothers across the world hold the foundation of their families’ happiness and health. Their sacrifices and tireless efforts are immense, yet these often come at the cost of their own physical and mental well-being. Maternal health encompasses a broad spectrum of issues, from prenatal care and pregnancy-related complications to postnatal care, nutrition, and mental health. Recognizing these challenges, we have launched this campaign to empower mothers with the knowledge and resources they need to care for themselves as they care for others.”
