Navi Mumbai: In a heartfelt and innovative campaign against drug abuse, the Raigad Police has launched a district-wide anti-narcotics awareness initiative coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan, using the emotional bond between siblings to appeal to the youth to stay away from drugs.

Emotional Slogan Appeals to Youth on Rakhi

The campaign, under the slogan "Bahin Maagte Owalni – Nako Karu Nashene Sharirachi Hani" (A sister’s Rakhi gift – Don’t harm your body with addiction), urges young people to value the love and concern of their sisters by choosing a healthier, drug-free life.

The initiative is part of a larger statewide anti-drug effort directed by the Special Inspector General of Police, Konkan Range, for the month of August.

Festival Used to Drive Anti-Drug Message

“Raksha Bandhan is a time when sisters wish their brothers a long, healthy life. What better moment to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and make an emotional connection that truly resonates?” said a senior police official from the Raigad SP office.

Ganpati Mandals to Join Campaign

To ensure community participation, Ganpati mandals in the district have been encouraged to include anti-drug themed displays during the upcoming Ganesh festival, reinforcing the message of de-addiction through cultural celebration.

School and College Outreach Begins

Additionally, joint teams from the District Hospital, Nirbhaya Squad, and Police Station outreach units like 'Police Kaka and Didi' are visiting schools and colleges across Raigad to educate students about the harmful impact of substance abuse and encourage healthy lifestyle choices.
