Palghar, Maharashtra: The Bolinj police crime detection team have dismantled a notorious motorcycle theft gang, apprehending four individuals, including two minors, and recovering stolen vehicles valued at ₹1 lakh. This significant breakthrough comes amidst a surge in two-wheeler thefts plaguing the area.
The operation was launched after a series of audacious thefts, including scooters belonging to Virar residents Hasmukh Limbachiya and Mangesh Patil, vanished in early June. With vehicle thefts on the rise, senior officers ordered an immediate and intensified investigation.
Acting promptly, the team meticulously examined crime scenes, poring over CCTV footage, and followed leads based on the suspects captured on camera. With the help of confidential informants, the police led to the traced and apprehended two habitual offenders, Anurag Sundaram and Mantesh Koli, both residents of Virar (West).

Arrested just days ago on June 20, 2025, Sundaram and Koli confessed to their involvement in a spree of thefts. Police quickly recovered three stolen motorcycles from their possession, closing out four separate theft cases. Further investigation exposed the shocking involvement of two minors, who have since been detained, with an additional stolen bike recovered from them.
The arrested individuals are now linked to multiple cases across Bolinj and Arnala Police Stations. Police assure residents that further investigations are underway to completely dismantle such criminal networks and bring an end to the rising tide of vehicle thefts in the region.
